Chiropractic Care

“Chiropractic helps the body and you work better, faster, more efficient; so you can play longer, harder with fewer repercussions.

That’s the core of a healthy lifestyle ” – Dr Cathy Moutsopoulos

Chiropractic is the art and science of healing from above, down, inside, out- with a chiropractic adjustment.  An adjustment is the treatment for a subluxation. A subluxation is when the bone is out of alignment causing interference in nervous system function. When the spinal bones, called vertebrae, are in proper alignment without nerve interference, it allows the body and brain to communicate and have the body perform at its best optimal potential to function normally, pain free, healthy

Chiropractic Adjustments help to maintain clear communication between the brain and the body and also lead to proper posture which also allows the body to function freely at it best potential.

Just imagine driving around with a flat tire, it will eventually throw off the cars alignment making the car and parts wear out faster. Change the tires, have them balance and aligned regularly and your car will last longer and get you better mileage. You maintain your vehicle so you should also take care of your spine too!

The benefit for you is Pain Relief and Better health. There are 2 parts to the nerve and afferent and efferent branches, sensory and motor. You cannot affect one without affecting the other. So if you feel better with less pain, the branch going to other parts of the body will get better nerve function to also work at its best.

Dr Cathy Moutsopoulos will come up with a customized care plan for you. This is important as not all injuries or mechanisms of injury are not the same and everyone heals at a different rate.

There are 3 phases in the healing process: Acute, Remodeling and Maintenance or Wellness Care. What you can expect is to come in more regularly in the beginning acute phase. As the body heals and holds the adjustments, your number of adjustments in a week and month will decrease in the remodeling phaseAs your body learns or re-learns proper alignment and posture, exercises, nutritional advice or lifestyle changes may be discussed. In the last stage- maintenance or wellness care, the body is able to hold the adjustments and the patient can come in once every 3 to 6 weeks. That way, small issues are addressed before they become painful and more expensive problems.

How long or how many adjustments it takes varies from person to person but the average is 9 to 15 visits, sometimes longer depending on the injury, its duration and complicating factors.

Some permanent injuries need continued maintenance care to maintain quality of life. Back pain is the leading cause of disability and chiropractic is a natural, drug free alternative to pain.

Theralight 360 therapy

Theralight 360 Provides:  increased energy, decreased pain, decreased inflammation, decrease fatigue, improved mood, improved sleep, increased recovery time of muscles. Inflammation is the underlying factor is most chronic arthritic and disease processes. So a decrease in inflammation is a step towards increased health. It also stimulates collagen production to prevent signs of aging.

How does it work?
Using Photobiomodulation (PBM), which uses carefully calibrated infrared light waves to bathe the body with therapeutic light, stimulating cell regeneration and enhancing tissue repair.  PBM Light therapy is heavily researched and extensive studies have shown therapy benefits to include:  faster healing times, tissue strengthening, increased blood and lymphatic flow, enhanced immune response, decreased anxiety, and improved sleep patterns.  Light therapy helps the cells and tissues of the body, allowing all 11 organ systems to be positively affected.

Clinically Proven: to not only reduce pain and inflammation, but to deliver therpeuticeffects towards the symptoms associated with:  arthritis, tendonopathies, low energy levels, nerve regeneration,  musculoskeletal pain, nerve pain, soft tissue healing,  sleep disturbances,  depression and anxiety, and more.

Other benefits include: improved athletic muscle recovery and enhancement, reduces fine lines and wrinkles due to collagen stimulation. Post surgical recovery times have also been hshortened with 360 Photobiomodulation therapy. Weight loss when paired with PEMI and EWOT.

How:  Photobiomodulation (PBMT), is red light and Infra red light therapy that helps cellular and tissue repair and cell energy production. The Theralight 360 has 45,000 LEDs in four different wavelengths and is the only true 360* light bed.  This allows for pain reduction while all 11 organ systems are positively affected all at the same time!

The mitochondria is the powerhouse or battery of the cell, regulating the energy, cell function and communication in the cell.  When free radicals overwhelm the cell, it slows cell function and makes oxidative stress.  Carefully calibrated light therapy helps to slow the aging process in cells and tissues by getting rid of the free radicals and oxidative stress.  PBM Therapy helps to remove oxidative stress from the mitochondria and increase oxygen uptake for more ATP or energy and less reactive oxygen species.  When the cells do what they do best it fixes the problem at a cellular level.  By removing oxidative stress, 360 Photobiomodulation therapy helps to promotes health and longevity.

Contraindications: There are virtually none, however if you are pregnant, have cancer, or have had an organ transplant it is advised to avoid full body PBM Therapy.

If you have been involved in a car accident, whiplash and back injuries need to be taken very seriously. Florida law requires you to seek attention within the first 2 weeks or you lose your insurance benefits. Because symptoms of a whiplash injury can take weeks or months to manifest, it is easy to be fooled into thinking that you are not as injured as you really are.

If you’ve been in a car accident and have suffered an automobile injury, we strongly suggest that you come in for a chiropractic evaluation as soon as you’re able to – especially if you’re experiencing one or more of the following symptoms:

• Neck pain
• Low back pain
• Headaches
• Jaw Pain
• Radiating pain down the arms or legs
• Shoulder pain
• Hip pain
• Numbness / “Pins & Needles”
• Muscle spasms / Stiffness
• Dizziness
• Vertigo (sense of rotation or movement)

Too often people don’t seek treatment following a car accident because they don’t feel hurt.  While cuts, scrapes and broken bones are easy to detect, auto accidents also cause subtle spinal and nerve damage, which manifest later through headaches, limited mobility and lower back pain. These effects make it harder to sleep, focus and enjoy your daily activities.

By far, the most common injury to the neck is a whiplash injury. Whiplash is caused by a sudden movement of the head, either backward, forward, or sideways, that results in the damage to the supporting muscles, ligaments and other connective tissues in the neck and upper back.

Unfortunately, by the time more serious complications develop, some of the damage from the injury may have become permanent. Numerous studies have shown that years after whiplash victims settle their insurance claims, roughly half of them state that they still suffer with symptoms from their injuries. If you have been in a motor vehicle or any other kind of accident, don’t assume that you escaped injury if you are not currently in pain.

At Beachside Chiropractic, we care about you and your health. We are committed to treating these problems at their source.

We are dedicated to helping those involved in auto accidents to start the healing process, serving the greater Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach, and Holly Hill areas.
