Class 4 laser therapy is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to help treat a variety of conditions by stimulating the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) which drives many of the processes within our cells. It’s often used to treat musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, arthritis, sports injuries, and post-surgical recovery.
Class 4 lasers are more powerful than Class 3 lasers, emitting over 500 milliwatts (mW) of power. The laser light penetrates deep into the skin and tissues, interacting with damaged cells and stimulating biochemical reactions that promote healing. This can help to:
- Reduce pain and swelling
- Improve range of motion
- Increase tissue regeneration
- Accelerate soft tissue and bone repair
- Improve nerve regeneration and function
- Increase cell metabolism
Class 4 laser therapy sessions are usually quick, lasting between 2–7 minutes, and often require no downtime. It’s often used in conjunction with other treatments to help patients get better faster.
